South Dakota State University will host Kansas City in a women’s basketball game at First Bank & Trust Arena in Brookings, South Dakota, on Saturday, February 14. The event is part of the university’s National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration.

The Jackrabbits enter the matchup following a decisive 94-48 victory over North Dakota. In that game, Brooklyn Meyer recorded a double-double with 21 points and 15 rebounds.

Kansas City comes into the contest after an overtime loss to South Dakota. The Roos have a season record of 7-18 overall and are 4-8 in Summit League play.

South Dakota State currently holds 19 wins this season and is one win away from achieving its 20th victory for the fifteenth consecutive year under Coach Aaron Johnston. This would also mark the program’s twenty-third time reaching that milestone during Johnston’s tenure.

Brooklyn Meyer stands fourth on SDSU’s all-time scoring list with 1,867 career points and needs 21 more points to move into third place. She averages 21.5 points per game, ranking thirteenth nationally, and has a .639 field goal percentage this year, which places her fourth among NCAA players. Meyer is one of four players nationwide averaging more than 20 points per game while shooting above sixty percent from the field.

Maddie Mathiowetz is the team’s second-leading scorer with an average of 12.4 points per game and has scored at least fifteen points in five of her last eight games. She leads SDSU in steals with an average of 1.4 per contest.

Emilee Fox contributes an average of 9.2 points per conference game and makes about 2.6 three-pointers per league contest. Her .511 three-point shooting percentage against Summit League opponents leads all players in the conference.

In Summit League games, South Dakota State ranks second in team field goal percentage at .493 and has eleven players shooting above forty percent during league play. The team’s overall field goal percentage is .476, placing them fifteenth nationally.

Defensively, SDSU leads the Summit League in several categories: scoring defense (54.9), three-pointers made per game (8.1), rebounds per game (39.9), opponent rebounding (28.6), rebounding margin (11.3), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.47), and assists per game (18.73).

No television broadcast is scheduled for this matchup; however, fans can follow via live stream on the Summit League Network or listen through Jackrabbit Sports Network audio coverage.
