Cost of college went up for all students at the Lake Area Technical Institute

Tuition and fees rose 1.3 percent for 2018-19 at the Lake Area Technical Institute, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

South Dakota students paid $5,332 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $68 more than the $5,264 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 92 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 444 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.7 million and 549 students took out student loans totaling more than $3.4 million.

Including all undergraduates (2,245), 1,236 students used grants or scholarships totaling $6.1 million, and 1,453 students took out $8.7 million in federal student loans.
