Brookings, SD - The City of Brookings will be hosting an open house on Wednesday, August 10th, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM to provide information to the public on the detour route proposed to be utilized for the upcoming closure of the intersection of 20th Street South and 22nd Avenue. The closure is being necessitated by construction work in the intersection associated with the Brookings Municipal Utilities water distribution and South Dakota Department of Transportation Interchange projects. This informational open house will be held in Room 300 of the Brookings City and County Government Building at 520 3rd Street and will provide the public an opportunity to see the vehicle and pedestrian detour routes and ask any questions of how they may need to adjust their daily routes to bypass the construction.
The closure is anticipated to begin during the week of August 14th, and the construction in the intersection is expected to last approximately 45 calendar days. During the construction period, the intersection will be closed entirely and thru traffic will be detoured around the construction area (please see attached detour route). This route will be signed appropriately.
If you are unable to attend, please feel free to reach out to the points of contact for the associated projects: Interchange Project Engineer Waylon Blasius at 605-692-6342 and Brookings Municipal Utilities Project Engineer Justin Bucher at 605-692-6342. Thank you for your patience during this project.
