The Brookings Sustainability Council is seeking nominations for its 2023 Mayor’s Sustainability Awards. Completed nomination forms are due by 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 5.
The Mayor’s Sustainability Awards recognize excellence in sustainable practices demonstrated by local businesses, organizations and individuals, while promoting a culture of resiliency.
There are three categories for awards: Industrial/Commercial, Non-profit/Government and Individual/Family. The nomination form can be found at www.cityofbrookings-sd.gov/SustainabilityAwards.
Nominees should exhibit resilient environmental infrastructure, conservation, or resource management, such as environmental protection, renewable energy, energy efficiency/conservation projects, and waste reduction/management as stewardship.
Award winners contribute to a more sustainable city by embracing and promoting an approach to business and daily living that balances environmental responsibility, economic prosperity and community equity.
The winners will be recognized at the Mayor’s Holiday Party and Awards event in early December.
