88 percent of applicants to Northern State University were admitted for fall 2018

At Northern State University, 87 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 58 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Aberdeen enrolled 3,493 students in fall 2018, including 3,051 in undergraduate and 442 in graduate programs, data shows. 3.1 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

70 percent of undergraduates are residents of South Dakota, and 28 percent are residents of other states. 2 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (83 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (3 percent).

The school admitted 88 percent of the 1,068 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 36 percent enrolled.
