92 percent of applicants to South Dakota State University were admitted for fall 2018

At South Dakota State University, 90 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 53 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Brookings enrolled 12,104 students in fall 2018, including 10,544 in undergraduate and 1,560 in graduate programs, data shows. 3.8 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

49 percent of undergraduates are residents of South Dakota, and 49 percent are residents of other states. 2 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (86 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (3 percent).

The school admitted 92 percent of the 5,390 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 44 percent enrolled.
