The Department of Public Works will begin reconstruction of 14th Avenue starting on July 22, 2022. Work will include: removal of the existing asphalt surface and turning it into gravel, replacement of ramps, sewer manhole work, new water main installation and new asphalt surface. The project will last approximately six weeks pending contractor scheduling and weather permitting. During this time thru traffic will be prohibited.
The City of Brookings reminds the public to be cautious when driving or walking near the project area, especially around work areas under construction, also stating, “we understand there will be short-term inconveniences throughout the project and we appreciate working together with you on any issues.” Issues related to construction items can be directed to the City Engineering Office at 605-692-6629.
