The Department of Public Works will begin road work on the 8th Street South (Main Avenue to Medary Avenue) and 8th Street (Medary Avenue to east of 14th Avenue) starting on August 1, 2022. Work will include: milling of the existing asphalt surface, concrete curb repairs, new asphalt surface, and striping. The project will last approximately two weeks pending weather and contractor scheduling. During this time through traffic will be disrupted.
The City of Brookings reminds the public to be cautious when driving or walking near the project area, especially around work areas under construction and asks that motorists please follow the direction of flagmen and construction signage when approaching the construction area. They state “we understand there will be short-term inconveniences throughout the project and we appreciate working together with you on any issues.” For updates to the schedule residents can refer to the City’s project website by visiting www.cityofbrookings-sd.gov/projects.
