The Department of Public Works has begun reconstruction of 3rd Street from 17th Avenue to 22nd Avenue. The next phase of the work will be beginning the morning of September 16 and will include closing 3rd Street to thru traffic from 17th Avenue to 22nd Avenue. This work will include replacement of the concrete valley gutters at State Avenue and 21st Avenue on 3rd Street. These two intersections will be completely closed during the work. Thru traffic is encouraged to detour either on 6th Street or Olwein Street. Local traffic will have access to their homes and Dakota Avenue and 20th Avenue will remain open. This phase of the project will last approximately 2-3 weeks depending on weather and contractor scheduling.
We would like to remind the public to be cautious when driving or walking near the project area, especially around work areas under construction. We understand there will be short-term inconveniences throughout the project and we appreciate working together with you on any issues.
