Army Band coming to the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center

The Mission Essential Brass (MEB) from the 147th Army Band will offer a free performance at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center on Friday, Jan. 13. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Larson Memorial Concert Hall.

Mission Essential Brass is the premiere Brass Ensemble from the 147th Army Band. With a variety of music and a high energy show, this eight-person music performance team plays a range of genres from timeless classics to the current hits of today. Their uplifting and exhilarating performance is sure to please every member of your family!

The 147th Army Band is based in Mitchell, SD, and has seen overseas deployments to Guatemala in 1991, Panama in 1996, Nicaragua in 2002, and Suriname in 2018. The band performs for military and civilian functions throughout the region and is made up of musicians aged 17 to 60 from 9 different states. In addition to the concert and ceremonial bands, the 147th Army Band is comprised of four unique music performance teams: SGT Rock, FTX, Drive On and Mission Essential Brass.

Christina Castillo, the Larson Family Endowed Director of the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center, said the School of Performing Arts and the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center are honored to host the MEB from the 147th Army Band.

No tickets or reservations are necessary for the free performance.
