The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT), in conjunction with the City of Brookings, will hold a public open house to introduce and receive input on the Interstate 29 Exit 133 (U.S. 14 Bypass / 18th Street) Interchange Modification Study. Reconstruction of the Exit 133 interchange, and affected U.S. 14 Bypass segments, is planned to begin in Fiscal Year 2029.
Variations of a ‘Modified Diamond Interchange’ were recommended for further analysis from the U.S. 14 – U.S. 14 Bypass Corridor Study completed in 2020.
The public meeting will be informal, consisting of a pre-recorded presentation and one-on-one discussion with the study team. Displays of the alternatives will be available for review.
The purpose of this meeting is to provide an early opportunity to assess project components, provide meaningful input on the project’s purpose and need, and assist with defining the preliminary range of alternatives. Your input will aid in refining and evaluating interchange and corridor alternatives as part of the study’s next steps.
