The Brookings Human Rights Commission is now accepting nominations for the 2023 Dorothy & Eugene T. Butler Human Rights Award. The nomination deadline is 5 p.m. July 10.

The award is presented each year by the Commission to a person(s) who has contributed to advancing the cause of human rights. The award bears the name of the first recipients, Dorothy & Eugene T. Butler. The Butlers were recognized for their lifelong advocacy in human rights issues on a local, regional and national level.

To obtain a nomination application, go to www.cityofbrookings-sd.gov/HumanRightsCommission. Or, contact the Brookings Human Rights office at:

All nominations will be considered and reviewed by the Brookings Human Rights Commission. When the final selection has been made, the Commission will notify the recipient and the public.
