Representative Dusty Johnson, serving South Dakota’s at-large district in the U.S. Congress, expressed several positions on social media recently. As an elected official since 2019, Johnson has proposed policies on financial ethics, social assistance, and international trade regulations.

On April 8, 2025, Johnson remarked on financial ethics in Congress, suggesting a restriction on stock trading for its members. He tweeted, "Members of Congress should not be allowed to buy and sell individual stocks."

Later that same day, Johnson addressed policies regarding food assistance programs. Through a tweet, he outlined the specifics of work requirements for Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWDs) under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). He emphasized that these requirements, "do not impact pregnant women," people with disabilities, "those in high unemployment areas," nor "those with young kids at home," but do help individuals rise out of poverty.

On April 9, 2025, Johnson shifted focus to foreign trade and public health concerns, specifically targeting illegal vape products. He stated, "China is targeting American youth with illegal and potentially dangerous vapes," calling for increased regulation of shipments to ensure compliance with U.S. laws.

Dusty Johnson, currently residing in Mitchell, South Dakota, was born in Pierre in 1976 and graduated with a BA from the University of South Dakota in 1999.
