Rep. Dusty Johnson, a U.S. Congressman representing South Dakota’s at-large district since 2019, recently shared his thoughts on social media about the significance of small businesses in South Dakota and recognized notable achievements during Small Business Week.

On May 5, 2025, Johnson highlighted the critical role of small businesses in South Dakota's economy. He stated that "Nearly 99% of South Dakota’s businesses are small business." He expressed gratitude for the individuals who contribute to manufacturing, innovation, and economic growth within local communities.

The following day, May 6, 2025, Johnson congratulated FourFront Design of Rapid City for being awarded the Veteran Owned Small Business of the Year Award. He noted that "Stephanie Holman served the U.S. Air Force for over 21 years and helped grow FourFront designs across the country."

On May 7, 2025, Johnson celebrated Rob Hrabe from VRC Metal Systems in Box Elder for receiving the SBA’s Small Business Exporter of the Year Award. According to Johnson's post, "VRC Metals produces a cold spray paint that attaches to metal like a weld and has even been used by the Department of Defense."

Dusty Johnson was born in Pierre, South Dakota in 1976 and currently resides in Mitchell. He graduated from the University of South Dakota with a BA in 1999.
