Dusty Johnson promotes legislation and recognizes small business achievements

Rep. Dusty Johnson, a U.S. Congressman representing South Dakota's at-large district since 2019, recently shared several updates via social media. These posts reflect his legislative efforts and acknowledgments of local achievements in small business.

On May 7, 2025, Rep. Johnson announced his legislative proposal titled the America Works Act. According to his tweet, "My bill, the America Works Act, would ensure work requirements for SNAP benefits are enforced and it would end the abuse of waivers by states. Work is the best pathway out of poverty."

Later that day, he recognized Brienne Maner for her contributions to small businesses in South Dakota. In a tweet dated May 7, 2025, he stated: "Brienne Maner, president of Startup Sioux Falls, was recognized by the @SBAgov as the Small Business Champion of the Year." He thanked her for supporting aspiring entrepreneurs in South Dakota.

On May 8, 2025, Rep. Johnson highlighted another recognition by the Small Business Administration. He tweeted about Butte County Equipment being named Family-Owned Small Business of the Year: "The Small Business Administration named Butte County Equipment the Family-Owned Small Business of the Year." This acknowledgment celebrates their growth and contribution to agriculture across western South Dakota.

Dusty Johnson has been an active figure in U.S Congress since succeeding Kristi Noem in 2019. Born in Pierre and residing in Mitchell, he holds a BA from the University of South Dakota obtained in 1999.
