On May 20, 2025, Rep. Dusty Johnson tweeted about measures to enhance the capabilities of the Coast Guard. He stated that "It strengthens the Coast Guard to bolster drug enforcement and secure our maritime border."

In another tweet posted on the same day, Johnson addressed agricultural concerns by highlighting efforts to support American farmers amidst rising operational costs. He remarked that "It strengthens risk management tools for American farmers facing higher costs for fuel, feed, and fertilizer."

Dusty Johnson was born in Pierre, South Dakota in 1976 and currently resides in Mitchell. He graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1999.
