Rep. Dusty Johnson, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing South Dakota’s at-large district since 2019, recently shared his thoughts on a variety of topics via social media. His posts touched on local celebrations, federal policy decisions, and historical commemorations.
On June 5, 2025, Johnson celebrated "605 Day," highlighting the unique qualities of South Dakota. He stated "South Dakota represents beauty, freedom, and opportunity. On 605 Day, we celebrate the Great Places and Great Faces that make our state special. From the Black Hills to the plains, how will you celebrate the 605? #Forever605".
Later that day, Johnson addressed issues concerning sanctuary cities in a post made on June 5, 2025. He remarked "Sanctuary cities have turned their back on federal law enforcement and welcomed illegal immigrants with open arms. I voted to move Small Business Administration offices out of these cities to ensure SBA employees do not face threats due to these soft-on-crime policies."
On June 6, 2025, Rep. Johnson reflected on a significant moment in history—the D-Day landings during World War II—acknowledging the bravery of Allied forces. He expressed "On the beaches of Normandy, the tides turned in the fight for freedom in WWII. 24,000 troops from America, Great Britain, and Canada took on a seemingly insurmountable challenge to pave the way for the Allied victory."
Born in Pierre and currently residing in Mitchell at age 46, Dusty Johnson is an alumnus of the University of South Dakota where he graduated with a BA in 1999.
