U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune, representing South Dakota, addressed the media today alongside other Republican leaders to discuss their ongoing efforts on a reconciliation bill. The bill aims to bolster America's strength and safety through various measures.

During his remarks, Thune emphasized the connection between national prosperity and security. "We are making great progress on our Republican reconciliation bill that will lead to a stronger and safer America," he stated. He further explained that "prosperity and security, safety are all issues that are intertwined," with the proposed legislation addressing these areas comprehensively.

A significant focus of the bill is border security, where Republicans plan a substantial investment in completing the border wall and enhancing resources for agencies like Customs and Border Protection and ICE. This investment aims to provide these agencies with necessary technology and equipment to maintain border integrity.

Thune also highlighted national defense as a critical component of the bill, mentioning investments in defense systems such as what he referred to as the "Iron Dome – or Golden Dome." Additionally, there is an emphasis on strengthening naval forces including both the Navy and Coast Guard.

Reflecting on recent events in Los Angeles, Thune underscored the importance of supporting law enforcement nationwide. He concluded by stressing that law enforcement needs robust support to address current challenges effectively.
