The Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act has successfully passed the House Agriculture Committee with a vote of 47-6. This legislation aims to establish a regulatory framework for digital assets in the United States.
U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson, who serves as Chairman of the Agriculture subcommittee on digital assets, introduced this bill in May. He was joined by several co-sponsors, including Committee on Agriculture Chairman G.T. Thompson, Majority Whip Tom Emmer, Committee on Financial Services Chairman French Hill, and Financial Services subcommittee on digital assets Chairman Bryan Steil.
Johnson stated that "over the next few years, blockchain technology will transform most every industry." He expressed concern that "regulatory uncertainty has pushed innovation and investment overseas," emphasizing that the new bill would provide "clear rules of the road" to ensure America's leadership in blockchain and digital assets.
The CLARITY Act also has support from other members of Congress such as U.S. Rep. Warren Davidson, House Agriculture Committee Ranking Member Angie Craig, Rep. Don Davis, Rep. Ritchie Torres, Bill Huizenga, and Josh Gottheimer.
