China's ownership of farmland in the United States has been a topic of concern, particularly due to the proximity of some of these lands to military bases. A legislator expressed ongoing concerns about how these purchases could pose risks to both food and national security. "For years, I have been sounding the alarm on how China’s purchases of American farmland pose a risk to our food security and national security," they stated. The statement emphasized that foreign adversaries like China should not be allowed to purchase U.S. farmland, suggesting such actions are deliberate moves by the Chinese Communist Party to expand global influence.

In response, this week saw the passage of the Agricultural Risk Review Act. This legislation aims to ensure that the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture is involved in decisions regarding agricultural land purchases that may threaten national interests. "This bill will protect America’s farmland, military bases, and food supply, but most importantly, national security," it was noted.

Another legislative development involves efforts to reform permitting processes under the Clean Water Act. Current regulations are seen as burdensome and outdated, hampering economic growth due to slow project approvals. To address this, a provision in the PERMIT Act was secured which encourages states to use an online dashboard for better efficiency in permitting processes. The act has passed through the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and awaits consideration by the full House.

The legislator highlighted their focus on reforming permitting procedures as a step toward greater transparency and expedited project timelines: "Congress must cut red tape to unleash America’s energy and building potential."

In international news, President Trump's decision to bomb Iran's nuclear sites led swiftly to a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. Gratitude was expressed for those involved: "I’m grateful for our brave men and women in uniform who safely and successfully completed this mission." The action is viewed as enhancing global safety by preventing nuclear threats from Iran while reinforcing America's stance on peace through strength.
