U.S. Senator John Thune from South Dakota is inviting college students to apply for fall internships in his Washington, D.C., office and state offices located in Aberdeen, Rapid City, and Sioux Falls. These internships offer students a chance to engage with the legislative process and gain practical experience.

In Washington, interns will have the opportunity to observe Senate votes and hearings. Meanwhile, those working in state offices will focus on constituent services and outreach activities. Both internship opportunities are paid positions that aim to enhance students' research and writing skills while providing them with valuable office experience.

“Interns who are selected will receive a firsthand look at the legislative process and the day-to-day life in a congressional office,” stated Thune. He emphasized that both Washington-based and state-based internships offer rewarding experiences related to legislative work and constituent services.

Interested college students must submit their applications by July 20, 2025. Applications can be found online at https://sen.gov/NXVV1 or through Senator Thune's official website under the “Services” tab.

Senator Thune holds significant roles as the Senate majority leader and is involved with several key committees including Commerce, Science, and Transportation; Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry; as well as Finance.

For further details about these internship opportunities, potential applicants can contact 202-224-2321.
