U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune addressed the Senate floor to express his condolences and support for those affected by the recent flooding in Texas. In his remarks, Thune highlighted the tragic loss of life, noting that over 100 people have died, including at least 28 children.

"This is a moment of unfathomable pain for so many," Thune stated. He extended his thoughts and prayers to the grieving families and commended the efforts of rescue workers, military personnel, and volunteers who risked their lives to save others.

Thune also paid tribute to ordinary citizens who lost their lives attempting to help others during the disaster, referencing a camp director who died while trying to ensure the safety of campers.

He concluded by reaffirming his solidarity with both victims and rescuers as recovery efforts continue.
