U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) addressed the press in Washington, highlighting recent achievements by the Republican Party and criticizing the Democratic Party's actions.

Thune spoke about the passage of a reconciliation bill, describing it as "incredibly meaningful and historic legislation." He emphasized its impact on national safety, strength, and prosperity. The bill includes provisions for military readiness, border security investment, American energy dominance, and making permanent tax relief from the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

Thune praised his team for their efforts in achieving these goals and noted that such an accomplishment was unprecedented during his tenure. Despite these successes, he acknowledged ongoing challenges and stressed the need to continue working hard.

He expressed frustration with what he described as obstruction by Democrats regarding presidential nominations. According to Thune, President Trump is unique since the Hoover administration in not having any civilian nominees confirmed either by voice vote or unanimous consent due to Democratic opposition.

Thune reiterated his commitment to advancing President Trump's nominees and pursuing further legislative work in the coming weeks.
