Rep. Dusty Johnson, who has represented South Dakota’s at-large district in the U.S. Congress since 2019, recently addressed several national security and regulatory issues in a series of public statements. Johnson, born in Pierre, South Dakota in 1976 and currently residing in Mitchell, has been active on matters related to military support, foreign land ownership, and regulatory policy.

On July 12, 2025, Johnson acknowledged the deployment of Army Reserve soldiers to Kuwait. He stated: "137 soldiers of the Army Reserve are deploying to support Operation Spartan in Kuwait. It was an honor to meet them and their families, thank them for their service, and send them off to fight for freedom."

On July 14, 2025, Johnson commented on concerns regarding foreign ownership of American farmland. He wrote: "China’s ownership of American farmland is certainly concerning. I have been working on legislation for years to prevent these purchases and I’m grateful the Trump Administration is protecting our food security and national security from the Chinese Communist Party."

On July 15, 2025, Johnson addressed progress on regulatory policy by stating: "We are finally on track for regulatory clarity, market protection, and innovation without fear of government overreach."

Johnson graduated from the University of South Dakota in 1999 with a BA degree. He succeeded Kristi Noem as South Dakota’s at-large representative.
