U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) has recognized Marcus and Jackie Isakson of Hill City as South Dakota’s 2025 Angels in Adoption honorees. The award, given by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI), acknowledges individuals and families who have shown dedication to providing permanent homes for children in need.
“It’s evident the Isaksons have a big heart for fostering and adoption, providing a loving home for kids who need one,” said Johnson. “Adoption is a truly selfless decision and a meaningful way to continue growing a family. I’m proud to highlight the Isaksons’ story as this year’s Angels in Adoption honorees.”
The Isakson family began their journey with four biological children before choosing to foster. Over time, they have cared for many children, including four siblings whose mother passed away. On February 7, 2025, the Isaksons adopted these siblings, expanding their family from six to ten members. They continue to foster emergency cases and currently care for two additional foster children.
Each year, CCAI selects families or organizations nationwide that demonstrate commitment to child welfare and improving the lives of children needing permanent homes. Honorees are chosen for their outstanding service within their communities.
Dusty Johnson has represented South Dakota’s at-large district in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Kristi Noem. He was born in Pierre, South Dakota in 1976 and now resides in Mitchell. Johnson graduated from the University of South Dakota with a BA in 1999.
