Rep. Dusty Johnson discusses community engagement and legislation across South Dakota

Rep. Dusty Johnson, U.S. Congressman representing South Dakota’s at-large district since 2019, recently highlighted local events and legislative initiatives in a series of posts on social media.

On August 4, Johnson expressed gratitude to law enforcement and acknowledged the efforts of officers during the Sturgis rally: "Thank you to Sherrif Pat West for hosting a law enforcement appreciation event in Sturgis to thank officers for their tireless protection of our state. Many officers work overtime during the rally to keep our roads and communities safe. Thanks to the One Big Beautiful Bill, the https://t.co/53vbiLSg4c" (August 4, 2025).

The following day, Johnson discussed workforce development with Dr. Kendra Ericson of Western Dakota Technical College: "Dr. Kendra Ericson and I discussed the important role Western Dakota Technical College plays in developing South Dakota’s workforce, her goals for the college, and supporting dual enrollment programs. Through the One Big Beautiful Bill, students pursuing technical careers at https://t.co/i2Hwc4DFgJ" (August 5, 2025).

Later that day, he shared details from a visit with residents at Peaceful Pines Senior Living in Rapid City: "I visited with residents of Peaceful Pines Senior Living in Rapid City and answered their questions about the One Big Beautiful Bill’s benefits to South Dakota, the national debt, and term limits for members of Congress." (August 5, 2025).

Johnson has served as South Dakota's representative since replacing Kristi Noem in 2019. He was born in Pierre in 1976 and currently resides in Mitchell. Johnson is an alumnus of the University of South Dakota.
