Rep. Dusty Johnson discusses senior issues, China policy, and workforce achievements

Rep. Dusty Johnson, who represents South Dakota’s at-large district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates on his legislative activities and perspectives via social media posts.

On August 27, 2025, Johnson wrote about a meeting with residents of Peaceful Pines Senior Living: "I joined the residents of Peaceful Pines Senior Living to talk about my work in Congress and how the One Big Beautiful Bill benefits seniors. We talked about a wide range of issues from prohibiting members of Congress from trading individual stocks and my efforts to counter the https://t.co/eP5gvFe2NE".

The following day, on August 28, he addressed concerns over national security and foreign access to government systems: "China should never have access to our government systems—especially those at the Department of Defense. I’m grateful the Trump Administration is putting America first and protecting our country from the national security threat the Chinese Community Party poses. https://t.co/8bAsWGsc8A".

Later that same day, Johnson commented on South Dakota's workforce: "It comes as no surprise that South Dakotans rank among the hardest working Americans in the country. With the lowest unemployment rate in the country South Dakota is setting the example for strong work ethic. https://t.co/w5eTNXwaoI".

Johnson has represented South Dakota’s at-large district since 2019 after succeeding Kristi Noem as its congressional representative (https://bioguide.congress.gov/search/bio/J000301). He was born in Pierre, South Dakota in 1976 and currently resides in Mitchell. Johnson graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1999.
