U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson, who has represented South Dakota’s at-large district in Congress since 2019, recently highlighted legislative and commemorative efforts through a series of posts on his official social media account.

On September 18, 2025, Johnson announced the passage of his bill aimed at reinforcing maritime oversight. He stated, "Ocean shipping impacts every American. My bill just passed @TransportGOP to strengthen the Federal Maritime Commission, protecting our ports and supply chains while pushing back on China’s abuse of our shipping laws." The legislation seeks to address concerns over U.S. port security and international shipping practices.

Later that day, Johnson marked a significant military anniversary with a congratulatory message: "Happy Birthday to the U.S. Air Force! I join in celebrating the legacy of excellence in the Air Force with the men and women who have served at Ellsworth Air Force Base and across South Dakota." The post reflects ongoing recognition for military personnel within his home state.

On September 19, 2025, Johnson paid tribute to servicemembers lost or unaccounted for during wartime. He wrote, "Today, we remember those who didn’t come home from combat. Our nation owes a debt of gratitude to the servicemembers who served our country and were held as a prisoner of war or missing in action. They will never be forgotten."

Johnson was born in Pierre, South Dakota in 1976 and currently resides in Mitchell. He graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1999. After succeeding Kristi Noem in Congress six years ago, he has continued to focus on both national policy issues—such as maritime law—and local matters relevant to South Dakotans.
